About Merry
She holds an BA in English literature from New York University, an MA in comparative literature from San Francisco State University, and is currently working on an MFA in poetry and creative non-fiction at Vermont College of Fine Arts.
In 1999, her poem, "After Running Hard off the Edge of the City", won the Audre Lorde Creative Writing Award in poetry (SFSU).
She is the programmer and host of Woman-Stirred Radio a weekly Queer cultural journal (www.wgdr.org), and a member of the Woman-Stirred writing collective.
Merry is a member of the program committee of the American Friends Service Committee, Vermont., and helps produce an annual poetry festival and fund raiser, Poetry Peace (formerly Tea & Poetry).
Her poems and short fiction have been published in Wisconsin Review, Paterson Literary Review, Sinister Wisdom, Street Spirit, Harrington Lesbian Literary Review, Harrington Lesbian Fiction Quarterly, and The Journal of NJ Poets>. Articles and essays have been published inOff Our Backs, Vermont Woman and The Hardwick Gazette. A new poem, Beltane: Advancing to Zero, is forthcoming from the River Oak Review.
She lives with her partner Elizabeth Hansen in Woodbury, VT .
